On the initial consultation the osteopath
will take a detailed case and medical history. A full examination and
assessment follows where a variety of tests may be performed to establish a
diagnosis to the complaint. The patient may be asked at this stage to
remove outer garments when appropriate in order for the osteopath to conduct
this examination.
When a diagnosis is complete, a treatment
plan is advised and agreed between the patient and the osteopath. This is
likely to include techniques that ease soft tissue strains, a spinal
manipulation (a ‘crack’) or if preferred a much gentler technique to release
a problem joint and cranial techniques that patients generally find very
relaxing. Some home exercises may also be advised.
Treatment plans are tailored to each
individual depending on their complaint, occupation, age and general state
of health.
Redhill Osteopathy is able to treat a wide
range of conditions by working in co-operation with the patient.
